Film Wedding Photographer

Timeless Photography for Modern People

What is wedding film photography? And why would you want it?

As a wedding and portrait film photographer, I love to capture you with the warmth of the moment regardless of the temperature. I usually work in a documentary fashion to keep your photos as natural as possible, but if you would rather I helped to pose you, or you have particular images in mind, just ask!

If you are looking for other services, such as a family portrait photographer, then I am your man! Nothing beats the look of family photos on 35mm or 120 medium format film. Feel free to check out my portfolio to see what I mean.

Maybe you just want your own portrait photo? I can meet you at a location you like, or I can suggest a few where we could get stunning natural pictures.

I like to use Kodak films for colour, namely Portra and Gold, and the classic Ilford HP5 for black and white, but if you have a favourite film stock I am happy to incorporate that into the day.

If you like the idea of film alongside digital photography, I can work with another photographer as a secondary. I can work with photographers that you choose, or I can recommend some for you.

All my services include high resolution digital scans. I don't have a limit on how much film I shoot, so you never need to worry about missing a shot.

For an additional fee I can send you the negatives, organise prints, or even keep the used film canisters for you.

Why film?

I recently asked one of my couples why they chose an analogue photographer, and their answer was simple; ‘because analogue photography is timeless’

We are living in a world where AI is getting bigger and there is more focus on editing than actually photographing. With analogue I will accurately capture your special day with the art and the realism that it deserves. Leaving you with pictures that will look great forever.

My ‘go to’ film stocks are Kodak Portra and Gold for colour, and Ilford HP5 for black and white. I have been using these films for years and know exactly how to shoot them, and what I am going to get. I pair this with two classic 35mm cameras; a Leica M6 and a Pentax K2. I will also use my Yashica 635 medium format TLR camera for even more detail and separation.

I will use as many rolls of film as I find necessary, as I don’t like shooting to a limit. My return is usually between 200 and 300 high quality images, and as I don’t usually edit them I will get them returned to you much quicker than many digital photographers.

I can also organise prints and albums, give you the negatives, and even the used film canisters!
